A framework for personal knowledge management tools.

I'd like to share with you some of my after-thoughts connected with
the article, title of which is the same as the title of this thread.

As you probably know, there are some tools that can significantly
accelerate human processes being also independent from technical
or financial factors. It's obvious that they should not be used
just for their own sake (I mean if they don't really
improve certain processes) but I think that it's worth knowing
what is the difference between accessing information and
accessing ideas and what can be done about it.

Article provides a detailed description of 7 principles, such as
for example organizing, anayzing or conveing informatin & ideas.
It devotes separate paragraph for each principle. Moreover, there
is a table provided which consists of principles mentioned above
and processes, values, skills and tools that stay in some kind of
connection with them.

What's more, sometimes it would be good to pay attention for
example to the issue of securing information or ideas. Nowadays
access to some information may be difficult due to different
useless rules and regulations... One thing I wouldn't agree with
is that article says that there is certain software that allows us
to share knowledge without losing control over it (I won't mention the name
but I know that there is some different software that is able to decompile files created with that software mentioned earlier).

This article isn't very long, so I recommend it to you. In a few minutes
time you may gain quite a lot useful and interesting information.

Referring to what Lukasz said...
Well those 7 principles he mentioned are
- accesing, well you must know where informations are, when you dont use search helping software
- evaluating, most underestimated feature I believe, I strongly advise to at least check how many "good" websites are referring to information you found
- organizing, obviously we have to organize our knowledge otherwise its useless. As mentioned in text, we are map-making creatures, so make maps for your own sake ;)
- analyzing, well be aware that tools from one community are most likely useless for another. Therefore be sure you know the tool you are using for extracting information you seek.
- converting, information that is not published or advertised properly is useless as noone can understand it or even notice that it exists
- collaborating, well we are all students we know what it is teamwork, I doubt anyone underestimate friends help with difficult exercises ;)
- securing, unsecured information might become corrupted. Guard it if possible.

I have to admit that its true what Lukasz said about one product mentioned in text. Author must be naive, its so easy to take a screen shot and print it anyway, or simply rewrite.
I believe that when you dont want readers to print your thoughts dont publish it. Blocking print option in document really wont work ;)
