AT&T Embraces BitTorrent

http://blog.wired.com/business/2008/06/att-embraces-bi.html

Recently we could find opinions that the AT&T does something with BitTorrent packets, I mean slows traffic of such data down or simply blocks it. Case seems to be strange because there were such event already which was caused by Comcast. This ISP had a lawsuit alleges for blocking trafiic and everyone was convinced that it will be good lesson for other telecoms. Well as it seems things gone in different direction. Article entitled “AT&T Embraces BitTorrent, May Consider Usage-Based Pricing” introduces us a new method of ISP’s to discourage peer-to-peer users to generate traffic. We meet technique and plan of introducing Usage-based pricing by AT&T. Would it be an attempt to encourage greater efficiency in the way customers use capacity or maybe it’s all about money? From CEO’s point of view it might be the way to tune and reorganize technical infrastructure. Many more ideas may be found in described document.
