USAF Military Botnet

Carpet bombing in cyberspace

Recently I found an article which introduces the idea of creating american military botnet.
Air Force Col. Charles W. Williamson III tries to convince reader that the U.S. military should create and maintain its own Botnet not only as a detterent for those who would attempt to DDoS networks owned by the government, but also to create a offensive weapon which could be used against unfriendly nations, terrorist organizations, criminal groups and all malicious network structures. Author also briefly describes what would be the purpose and type of work introduced in such botnet. While reading the article we can also meet solutions of protecting this progam from enemy reverse engeneering. There is also a discussion with sceptics about ethical and political problems which could occure in the cyber world ruled by such program.

"The days of the fortress are gone, even in cyberspace. While America must harden itself in cyberspace, we cannot afford to let adversaries maneuver in that domain uncontested. The af.mil botnet brings the capability to help defeat an enemy attack or hit him before he hits our shores."
