Health care - data model.

Health care organizations have to deal with some issues, such as treating people most effectively, reducing administrative costs, effective recording and tracking patients' history or managing health care delivery schedules.

Key aspects of health care are for example: patient information such as medical conditions and physical characteristics, individual health care practitioner information such as skills and qualifications, information about health care visits, delivery, episodes, symptoms, and incidents.

It is important to know that health care organizations don't recognize themselves as productoriented. They actually are service providers, performing procedures, offering diagnoses and heping patients through their time and expertise. On the other hand, there are pharmaceuticals, supplies and medical equipment that may be offered by them. Therefore it can be said that these organizations offer both services and goods.

When talking about health care data model, following subjects have to be taken into consideration: people and organizations, product, order, delivery, work effort, invoicing, accounting, human resources.

In case of health care industries the most important additional data models needed are those that capture the information requirements for incidents, health care episodes, health care visits, health care delivery, claims processing, payments, and health care referrals.

Health care data analysis should contain financial analysis, human resource analysis, claims analysis, health care delivery outcome analysis and health care episode outcome analysis.
